

ATHENA CODING
Schedule: Part-time, weekday afternoons (typically 1–5 days/week). Shifts vary by site.
Location: Local school/community center sites (multiple campuses)
Position Overview
We are hiring dependable, high energy Afterschool Enrichment Instructors to lead structured, engaging programming for students in grades TK–8 (varies by site). Instructors supervise a class, deliver enrichment activities using provided lesson plans and materials, and create a safe, positive environment where students can learn and have fun after the school day.
Positions are available in the following regions:
California: San Francisco Bay Area; East Bay; Peninsula; Orange County; Los Angeles County; Ventura County; Inland Empire (San Bernardino area)
Massachusetts: Greater Boston; MetroWest
Arizona: Phoenix East Valley (Chandler area); Tucson area (Catalina Foothills)
Virginia: Northern Virginia (Fairfax County area)
Colorado: Denver Metro
Illinois: Chicago North Suburbs (Lincolnwood area)
Core Responsibilities
Lead daily enrichment blocks such as STEM, coding, art, games, physical activities, mindfulness, or project based learning (program varies by site).
Supervise and manage a group of students (often up to 20 students) with consistent routines and clear expectations.
Maintain safety and active supervision at all times, including during transitions, outdoor time, and dismissal.
Implement positive behavior management using proactive strategies, redirection, and consistent consequences aligned with program expectations.
Build a positive classroom culture focused on respect, participation, teamwork, and inclusion.
Follow provided curriculum and activity plans and adapt pacing to student needs while maintaining program structure.
Communicate professionally with site staff regarding attendance, student behavior, and any safety or incident concerns.
Complete basic program documentation as required (attendance, incident notes, brief daily updates, supply tracking).
Maintain a clean, organized learning space including setup and cleanup of materials.
Required Qualifications
Experience working with children.
Strong classroom management and the ability to confidently lead a group.
Reliability, punctuality, and consistent attendance.
Clear communication skills and a professional, calm demeanor.
Ability to be active and engaged with students (standing, walking, outdoor play, lifting light supplies).
Preferred Qualifications
Prior afterschool, expanded learning, or summer camp experience.
Experience leading enrichment activities (STEM, coding, art, music, sports, drama, chess, etc.).
CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain if required).
Coursework or degree in education, child development, psychology, or a related field.
