Duties

  • Deliver interactive lessons on drone operation, safety protocols, and basic engineering principles for elementary students (lesson plans and materials are provided by Athena).

  • Supervise students during drone flights and STEM activities to ensure safe and responsible use of equipment.

  • Support classroom management and promote teamwork, participation, and an inclusive learning environment.

  • Maintain safety standards related to drone handling and STEM tools, including pre-flight checks and basic equipment care.

  • Observe student progress and provide simple, constructive feedback to help students improve.

  • Collaborate with school staff to ensure smooth, engaging sessions.

Experience and Qualifications

  • For Assistant Instructor roles: Part 107 certification is not required.

  • For Lead Instructor roles: Part 107 certification is required.

  • Applicants should have experience working with kids, experience with drones, or both.

  • Prior experience working with elementary-aged students in educational, camp, coaching, or extracurricular settings is strongly preferred.

  • Drone experience (hobbyist or professional) is a plus, but not required for assistant instructors.

  • College coursework or experience related to education, engineering, robotics, or STEM is a bonus.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain concepts clearly and enthusiastically.

  • Reliable, organized, and able to manage multiple activities while prioritizing student safety.
