About the Role: Are you a nursing student, pre-med major, EMT, or health sciences student looking for hands-on pediatric and medical experience this summer? NARA Park Summer Camp is seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Camp Health Officer to manage the daily health and safety of our campers!

You do not need to be a registered nurse for this role. Under the guidance of our consulting physician/NP (who will train you on medication administration), you will be the primary on-site health caregiver, running our camp health office, administering daily medications, and performing first aid.

What You Will Do:

  • First Aid & Triage: Provide primary first aid care for minor injuries (scrapes, bug bites, sprains) and evaluate campers who are feeling unwell.

  • Medication Administration: Safely store, log, and administer daily prescription and over-the-counter medications to campers (including EpiPens and inhalers) following training from our Health Care Consultant.

  • Record Keeping: Maintain the camp’s official Medical Log in compliance with Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) regulations.

  • Health Record Review: Review camper health histories, physicals, and allergy action plans prior to the start of each week, distributing allergy lists to group counselors.

  • Emergency Response: Act as the lead responder for any medical emergencies until EMS arrives.

  • Parent Communication: Contact parents/guardians regarding minor injuries, illnesses, or missing medical paperwork.

What We’re Looking For (Qualifications):

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

  • Must hold current CPR/AED and Standard First Aid certifications (or be willing to obtain them prior to June 15).

  • Ideal Candidates: Nursing students, pre-med, EMTs, athletic training students, or anyone pursuing a career in healthcare or pediatrics!

  • Strong organizational skills and strict attention to detail (you will be managing health records and medication schedules).

  • Ability to remain calm, friendly, and reassuring with young children who are hurt or homesick.

  • Must pass a thorough background check (CORI/SORI) and provide a 5-year work history.

Why Work With Us?

  • Great Resume Builder: Gain incredible, hands-on clinical and pediatric experience for your nursing/medical school applications.

  • Get Paid to be Outside: Spend your summer by the lake at beautiful NARA Park!
