Schedule: Monday – Friday. Flexible shift options between 7:30 AM – 6:00 PM (Core hours are 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM)
Pay: $15.00 – $20.00 / hour (Based on experience and leadership background)
About the Role:
Athena Coding is seeking a highly energetic, responsible, and organized Camp Supervisor to help lead our licensed summer camp at NARA Park. As a Supervisor, you are the backbone of our daily operations. You won't just be leading a group of campers; you will be overseeing a team of counselors, ensuring daily activities run smoothly, managing behavioral escalations, and serving as a primary point of contact for parents. This is a fantastic opportunity for future educators, recreation management majors, or seasoned camp professionals looking to build their leadership resumes!
What You’ll Do:
Team Leadership: Oversee a team of camp counselors, ensuring they are engaged, actively supervising campers, and running activities (arts, STEM, sports) enthusiastically.
Operational Support: Help the Camp Director manage daily logistics, including morning check-in, attendance tracking, transitions, and safe dismissal.
Behavior Management: Step in to support counselors with camper behavioral issues, utilizing de-escalation techniques and positive reinforcement.
Parent Communication: Interact professionally with parents and guardians during drop-off and pickup, answering questions and providing updates on their child's day.
Safety & Compliance: Conduct frequent headcounts, ensure staff are maintaining state-mandated 1:10/ 1:5 ratios, and monitor safe transitions to and from the waterfront.
Fill the Gaps: Act as a "floater" who can seamlessly step into a counselor role to cover staff breaks, or act as a backup first-aid responder if our Health Officer is busy.
What We’re Looking For:
Age & Experience: Must be at least 18 years old with prior experience working with children (camp counselor, teacher, paraprofessional, coach, or childcare provider). Previous leadership or supervisory experience is highly preferred.
Problem Solver: Ability to think on your feet, adapt to schedule changes (like rainy days!), and keep staff motivated.
Strong Communicator: Comfortable giving constructive feedback to teenage/young adult staff and speaking professionally with parents.
Certifications: Current CPR and First Aid certification is required (we can help arrange training before camp starts if yours is expired).
Compliance: Must pass all required background checks (CORI/SORI) and provide a 5-year work history.
Why Work With Us?
Leadership Experience: Incredible resume builder for anyone going into education, management, or pediatric fields.
Great Environment: Spend your summer outdoors at a beautiful lakefront facility with a highly supportive management team.
No Weekends: Enjoy a stable Monday-Friday schedule!
