Program Overview
Athena Coding is partnering with the Alhambra Summer Adventures program to deliver a summer full of fun, discovery, and excitement for students in grades TK–6. We are looking for energetic, enthusiastic instructors who are ready to make this summer unforgettable! You will be leading hands-on activities in STEM, Arts, and Recreation, turning a standard classroom into a space of exploration and joy.

Role Summary
Your main job is to bring the energy and keep students engaged, safe, and happy. We want instructors who can maintain a positive, rewarding classroom environment where students feel supported and excited to learn. Whether you are building Lego cities, creating paper mache volcanos, or filming a movie trailer, your goal is to ensure every student is having a blast while learning something new.

Schedule & Logistics

  • Shifts: 5 to 9 hours per weekday (scheduled between 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM). June 1, 2026 – July 10, 2026 (no camp on 6/19 or 7/3)

  • Breaks: Paid rest breaks and unpaid meal periods are provided in strict accordance with California labor laws.

Responsibilities

  • Bring the Fun: Lead high-energy, engaging enrichment lessons using our provided curriculums.

  • Create a Positive Vibe: Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and rewarding environment where students feel safe to express themselves and try new things.

  • Classroom Management: Keep students safe and on-task through positive reinforcement and clear, consistent routines.

  • Supervision: actively supervise students during class time, transitions, and breaks.

  • Professionalism: Maintain accurate attendance and communicate effectively with Site Coordinators.

Requirements

  • Education: Must possess at least 48 college credits OR an Associate’s Degree (or higher).

  • Experience: Prior experience working with youth in a classroom, camp, or after-school setting is required. References must be provided as part of the application process.

  • Clearances: Must pass a Live Scan background check and provide a negative TB test result prior to the start date.

  • Attitude: A genuine passion for working with kids and the ability to bring excitement to the classroom every day.

Compensation

  • Hourly rate between $20-25 depending on experience

  • Paid training provided prior to the program start date.
